A grand School Designed By Our Teachers & Architects
Would you hire a preschool teacher to design your office building? How about a science teacher to design your house? You might be surprised to learn that the teachers and staff at Chabad Hebrew Academy could also be considered accomplished architects. Working in close collaboration with architect Hak Sik Son and his stellar team, they have contributed their important perspectives to the design and creation of an extraordinary, child-friendly environment that features the most advanced of educational amenities. The bright addition features four rows of comfortable step seating, soundproof walls and a low ceiling to create a warm, intimate environment. After thorough research, upper grade teachers have also implemented intricate science and technology upgrades to bring our students well into the next century. We're confident that the excellent teamwork between our teachers and the foremost architects and advisors in the field of education creates a setting that enables our students to reach for the stars.
The Present: A Link From The Past To The Future
The secret of the Jewish people's persistence throughout history - through difficult periods of persecution and anti-Semitism, assimilation and survival - is amazing. Indeed, it has kept our people from washing away with the sands of time. That secret to the unbroken transmission of our heritage from one generation the next is the special bond between parent and child-links in a chain from the beginning of time. The success of the Chabad Hebrew Academy is tied directly to our children, teachers and parents. Our teachers are living examples of the lessons they teach. The joy and pride that they exude is infectious. We believe that through a healthy awareness of Jewish history and tradition, a child is opened to a greater sense of self and past. This awareness serves as a lens through which the student learns to make ethical decisions for themselves and their community. By establishing a foundation at an early age, children learn to move confidently through society with a wonderful set of resources at their disposal. For this reason we are not surprised when students are not the only ones asking questions. Parents like to learn as well.
Is There Anything In Life More Essential Than Balance?
In an ever-changing world it is not easy to predict what our children will be faced with in the years to come. As concerned parents we endeavor to provide our children with the tools to help them through life. We pose this question: Is there anything in life more essential than balance, to live in a constantly changing world, yet have a past, present and a future? At the Chabad Hebrew Academy we effectively infuse pride of self, and pride of community in harmony with the cutting edge of today's finest educational models. Our General Studies & Judaic Staff work hand in hand to ensure that students will be more than well rounded. You can be certain that your child will also be well rooted and thrive in an ever-changing future. We believe that an ethics-based education provides the proper balance for our students' future success. At Chabad Hebrew Academy the student body is comprised of the entire gamut of American Jewry, from somewhat affiliated to not affiliated at all. While we instill a positive sense of Judaism, Chabad's philosophy is non-judgmental. We truly believe that life is all about balance.
We Judge Our Success By The Size Of Our Students Smiles
Here's to achievement! The results speak for themselves. Chabad Hebrew Academy students score high above the norm on national standardized tests and are the recipients of awards in math, science and creative writing. Chabad Hebrew Academy students repeatedly have been finalists in the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair. They have also won awards from the Young Writers' Contest Foundation, Students' Newspaper Contest, Israel's Bar-Ilan University top honors for education in the Diaspora and have been presented with trophies and prize monies from sponsoring organizations such as Procter & Gamble, Comerica Bank and the Mayor of San Diego. When our graduate's matriculate they are placed in advanced gate programs in local public schools where they adapt smoothly and often become integral participants in their schools' social fabric. The proof is in the pudding and we think that is a very good reason to be jumping with joy!
Plugging Into The Future
To succeed in today's competitive high tech world, mastery of contemporary technologies is essential. Chabad Hebrew Academy is committed to providing the best tools and instruction possible to ensure that our students have an opportunity to learn about a broad range of technologies. Our teachers have undergone extensive training in order to integrate online and other leading technologies in their curricula. Our state of the art Tech Center offers a multitude of cutting edge technologies to enhance our students' educational development. They include: Community Access Television (CATV) for student broadcast to each classroom, fiber cable to assure high speed bandwidth for years to come, alliances with askmoses.com and Chabad.com for personal assistance in Judaic studies during and after school hours, alliances with universities in Israel for cooperative distance learning initiatives, two media centers for editing and creating professional scale programs, films, and web content, and effective security technologies. We are thrilled to hear that our elementary school technology program far exceeds that of most high schools.
Incorporating Natures Beauty Into Our Curriculum
The Chabad Educational Campus is situated amidst 27 acres of lush, verdant forest in Scripps Ranch. Graceful Eucalyptus trees cloak the entire campus and envelop outdoor classrooms designed to integrate harmoniously with the surrounding environment. Tables and benches are constructed from native logs and stumps. Even the campus structures themselves are dictated in shape and distribution by the surrounding forest. Following the design theory most recognized in Charles Moore's Kresge College, the surrounding forest extends throughout and is visible fro any point on Campus. The parking lot is canopied by large trees, connecting the forest on either side of it, thereby eliminating the sense of urban development. To us, it's all about the students. Primary school facilities generally have an institutional feel and students wait for the summer to get out in order to enjoy the freedom of the outdoors. According to research at the UES elementary school at UCLA, designed by influential architects Richard Neutra and Robert Alexander, exposure to fresh air and the natural environment calms, relaxes and inspires the best in students and faculty. These facts, and our responsibility for our environment, may give you insight into the design and function of the new Chabad Educational Campus.
Tied Together We Form A Promising Jewish Future
At the end of the day, the foundation that is given to our children is the rope that ties life together. With a balanced education, strong roots, warm and caring educators and a beautiful physical environment, the many strands of a Chabad Hebrew Academy beginning, form a strong and secure rope that lasts a lifetime. We invite you to visit and see the constant smiles on student's faces and the magic created by a wonderful environment. Who would have thought that a rope is what education is all about?
