Torah links the generations
A Torah replete with half-a-century’s worth of history found a new home at Scripps Ranch’s Chabad Hebrew Academy thanks to long-time San Diego resident, Mr. William Scherlis.
Mr. Scherlis – a charter member of one of San Diego’s oldest synagogues –
donated a Torah scroll from Beth Tefillah, founded in1939, to the Schloss Family Student Synagogue. More than 80 students dedicated the scroll in a lively ceremony held in April at the academy. The students will read from the Torah twice a week at the youth-oriented synagogue, made possible by donations from Mr. and Mrs. Schloss.
