Learning Lab

The Learning Lab is home to CHA’s team of highly trained educators whose mission is to ensure that every child learns and grows. They are our Reading Specialist, Resource Specialist, and School Counselor.

• The Reading Specialist concentrates her efforts on supporting our youngest students as they develop from emerging to intermediate readers. By co-teaching in kindergarten, first, and second grade classes daily, the Reading Specialist works with classroom teachers to facilitate small, leveled reading groups, tailored to meet the needs of each student.
• The Resource Specialist provides support and remediation so that struggling students and those with learning disabilities can succeed in CHA’s academically rigorous curriculum. Using research-backed methods that address different learning styles, the Resource Specialist works one-on-one and in small groups to improve academic skills in reading, writing, and math, as well as organizational skills and time management.
• The School Counselor supports our students through the variety of social and emotional challenges that are part of growing up. They teach classroom lessons on character education and conflict resolution, conduct social skills groups, and meet with individual students and parents as needed.
