Science
Inquiry is central to learning—and doing–science at CHA. Students lead hands-on, integrated experiences, exploring and making connections across the curriculum. In our dedicated science labs, experienced and highly qualified science teachers facilitate student discovery and exploration. As students develop they learn to describe objects and events, ask questions, construct hypotheses, test those explanations against current scientific knowledge, and communicate their ideas. These process skills spiral from one interactive unit to the next and build upon each other with increasing complexity. As students progress from kindergarten through the eighth grade, they develop an in depth and hands on love for science and inquiry that informs their basis of thinking for years to come. CHA graduates are passionate and well placed to excel in the sciences in high school and beyond as independent thinkers who can understand and solve complex problems. A majority of our graduates enter honors and advanced science placement in their first years of high school.
